The Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas (CDMA) was created in 1995 to provide a forum of debate to exchangeexperiences among the Defense Ministers of the Hemisphere. The first CDMA was attended by 34 countries:Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kittsand Nevis, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, United States of America, Uruguay and Venezuela.
